【EVENT!】 「Tour of Akihabara part 2!」
Great Turnout for the Akihabara Walking Tour! Thanks to all who joined us on a sunny day!
There were 12 intrepid explorers who joined the Nihombashi Service Center staff on Saturday for a tour Akihabara. We started inside the city gates of Edo (now Manseibashi) and crossed the Kanda River (actually a canal made to bring water from Inokashira Pond to the masses in Edo and separated the upperclass estates of Kanda from the lower class samurai and commoners of "outer Kanda") and then to find the remain of Chinka Shrine (dedicated to keeping fires from occurring and to protect Edo; the "branch temple" is now located in the stationmaster's office of Akihabara station!).
After that we went to Don Quijote - the home of almost anything you could evert need, all at a bargain price and also with a game center and cosplay corner. We ended the day at a maid cafe (can you go to Akihabara and NOT visit a maid cafe?), and on the way there stopped at a vending machine selling that famous Akihabara food - canned oden and canned ramen.
Participants in the tour were from America, China, Germany, Sweden, and England! For our next event, we look forward to having even more international representation! Thanks again to all and stay tuned for the announcement of our next event in June 26th...
